Scuba Rangers at Dan's Nasty Frogmen
Scuba School International (SSI) have designed Scuba Rangers specifically to welcome children from the age of 8 into the diving community. The programme teaches children the knowledge and skills required to be a safe diver, while encouraging them to have as much fun as possible. It offers all of the training and education that a regular Open Water Diver receives on a child's level of understanding. The child will build self confidence, discipline and self esteem. The programme is designed to keep children active and reaching their goals with hard work, commitment and fun.

Here's how it works. There are four levels of Ranger:

Red Ranger - Objectives:

  1. Introduce the children to the Scuba Rangers Programme

  2. Familiarise the children with snorkeling equipment

  3. Assess the children's swimming skills

  4. Introduce the children to basic surface helper skills

  5. Teach the children how to use snorkeling equipment correctly

White Ranger - Objectives

  1. Introduce the children to scuba diving equipment

  2. Explain to the children what scuba diving equipment does and why they need it

  3. Explain to the children how to use scuba diving equipment comfortably and correctly in confined water

Blue Ranger - Objectives

  1. Review and practice White rangers skills

  2. Learn proper buoyancy skills

  3. Practice buddy aid skills

  4. Make a dive to the bottom to 2 meters in confined water

Silver Ranger - Objectives

  1. Review and practice skills

  2. Learn underwater self-aid skills

  3. Practice Deep Water Descents

  4. Practice for demonstration recital
Two levels of Scuba Ranger can be completed over one weekend:
1st weekend  - Red and White - a log book and sticker will be presented upon completion
2nd weekend - Silver and Blue - a Diploma and Certificate will be presented upon completion
Cost:    Each level of Scuba Ranger costs RM 200. (The cost of Red Ranger includes the Scuba Ranger Kit.)
Alternatively all four levels can be completed from Monday to Friday.
We are happy to conduct courses for one child at a time but it is much more fun with a buddy! We can take a maximum of 8 children in a course, only 4 would be in the water at any one time with the instructor.
Once a child with Silver Scuba Ranger reaches the age of 12 they can complete the Junior Open Water Diver for only RM400. (This is equivalent to an Open Water Certificate and will be automatically exchanged for an adult card at the age of 18.)
